 The Conformity Assessment Society (CAS) is a, USA based, nonprofit professional association that serves as the global hub for individuals and organizations involved in certification, inspection, testing, accreditation, and standardization. CAS promotes excellence, collaboration, and recognition in the field of conformity assessment.


 CAS welcomes a wide range of members, including:

  • Individual professionals in conformity assessment
  • Students pursuing related studies
  • Organizations such as certification bodies, laboratories, inspection agencies, and accreditation bodies. Also other Organizations interested in Conformity Assessment Activities are also welcome to the Society.
  • Consultants, academics, and government professionals in relevant fields
  • Training providers and educational institutions

Neither. CAS is a Society, a professional association. It does not certify individuals, products, or systems, nor does it accredit conformity assessment bodies. Membership signifies professional affiliation, not formal certification or endorsement. 


Members may use a designated CAS Member Mark to indicate their membership, but must not use the CAS logo in a way that implies endorsement, certification, or accreditation. All logo use must comply with CAS’s official Logo & Affiliation Policy. 


You can apply online by completing the CAS Membership Application Form and submitting the applicable membership fee. Once reviewed and approved, you’ll receive your official membership credentials. 


Membership is valid for one calendar year from the date of approval. Renewal notices are sent prior to expiration. 


CAS is governed by a Board of Directors which is supported by an Executive Committee composed of globally recognized experts in conformity assessment. The Committee provides strategic direction to the BoD, proposes initiatives, and ensures adherence to the Society’s mission and values.


CAS is legally incorporated in the United States as a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. 


Members may volunteer for working groups, contribute to publications, participate in webinars, or serve on advisory panels. Opportunities are announced periodically to the membership. 


Absolutely. CAS offers a Student Membership category at a reduced rate, providing access to resources, mentorship opportunities, and engagement in CAS-led research or networking initiatives. 


Once your application and payment are received, it will be reviewed by the CAS Membership Office. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation email, your official digital CAS Membership Certificate, and your digital membership card.


The Conformity Assessment Society (CAS) is financed through a combination of membership dues, donations, sponsorships, and revenue from educational and outreach activities, such as webinars, publications, and events. As a nonprofit organization registered under Section 501(c)(6) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, CAS does not distribute any profits or dividends to its members, officers, or affiliates. All income is strictly reinvested into activities that support the Society’s mission, including global collaboration, member services, professional development, and the promotion of excellence in conformity assessment. CAS adheres to strict standards of financial transparency and responsible governance. 


Yes, the Conformity Assessment Society (CAS) is developing internship opportunities for students interested in conformity assessment, sustainability, standardization, and quality infrastructure. Internships may involve research support, event coordination, technical writing, or participation in CAS working groups. While availability may be limited and based on ongoing projects, CAS encourages interested individuals to express their interest by contacting CAS secretariat. These non-paid internships are designed to offer meaningful exposure to the global conformity assessment ecosystem and contribute to professional growth. 


Yes. CAS encourages members to propose collaborative projects, white papers, webinars, surveys, or international initiatives aligned with its mission. Proposals are reviewed by the Executive Committee or relevant working groups.


No. CAS is a neutral, independent, and nonpartisan organization. It operates for the benefit of the global conformity assessment community and maintains independence from commercial, political, or regulatory interests. 


Yes. CAS membership can strengthen your professional profile, demonstrating your active engagement in the global conformity assessment community. While it is not a certification, it reflects commitment to professional development and industry best practices.


The Society offers a flexible and inclusive membership fee structure designed to support professionals and organizations across all sectors of conformity assessment. The annual fee for Individual Professional Members is $40, applicable to those engaged in certification, inspection, testing, accreditation, or standards development. Student Members may join at a reduced rate of $20, provided they submit valid proof of full-time academic enrollment in a relevant field. Organizations and companies may apply as Organizational Members for an annual fee of $250-$1000  on a tiered fee schedule based on their annual income.

All memberships are valid for one calendar year from the date of approval, are non-refundable, and require compliance with the CAS Code of Conduct and membership policies.
