Course Description
The Conformity Assessment Society (CAS) presents the ISO/IEC 17020:2026 Update Course, a comprehensive self-study Certificate Course designed to provide a clear, structured, and authoritative overview of the newly published third edition of ISO/IEC 17020.
This course examines key clause-level changes, updated terminology, and strengthened requirements related to independence classifications (Type A / Type non-A), impartiality, governance, and decision-making processes for inspection bodies. It further addresses enhanced requirements on control of data and information, digitalization of inspection activities, reporting integrity, and the use of remote inspection techniques.
Special emphasis is placed on the practical implications of the revised standard, including risk-based approaches, competence requirements, and alignment with modern conformity assessment practices. Through guided modules and a final online exam, participants gain practical insight into transition strategies and readiness for implementation under the new ISO/IEC 17020:2026 framework.

Course Format
This self-study course is delivered in a structured, interactive format designed to balance self-paced learning with knowledge validation. Self-paced, self-study courses offer the flexibility to learn anytime and anywhere, allowing participants to progress at their own speed while balancing professional and personal commitments.
Pre-Course Material Delivery
Upon registration, participants receive access to a digital course pack, including:
- A Participant Guide with all lesson notes, reading materials, and key definitions.
- Selected related study material.
- Exercises and Case studies illustrating real-world conformity assessment scenarios.
Materials are provided in PDF format and can be downloaded for offline study.
Assessment
At the end of the course, participants take an online test. The test includes multiple-choice questions. Passing grade: 70% or higher.
Certificate of Completion
Participants who successfully pass the final assessment receive a digital certificate verifying their achievement.
The certificate can be shared on LinkedIn or included in professional development records.
Successful completion of the course awards 2.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), equivalent to 25 hours of structured learning.
Registration Deadline
- Participants can register by August 31, 2026.
- The course will run from September 1, 2026 through September 14, 2026.
- The material will be released September 1, 2026. Participants will have to complete the final test by September 14, 2026.
